1) Tyler
First Appearance: "Relentless N00bs"
Tyler is a hardcore Magic player. He has the entire comprehensive rulebook memorized. He can recite any rule in it in 3 separate languages. He even knows what happens when you have Humility and 2 Opalescences in play at the same time.
Bitterly sarcastic, Tyler's cynicism often impairs his ability to see the lighter side of a situation. He enjoys making clever quips at Dom's expense almost as much as he loves his combo decks and hates Yu-Gi-Oh.
Ty, being a master Johnny, plays mostly casual Magic. This doesn't stop him from winning nearly half his games against Dominic's blistering tournament decks, although no one is quite sure how he manages to pull off his combos so consistently.
In his spare time, Ty enjoys browsing Magic websites, reading the paper, and shooting down Dom's magnificent and fatal schemes.
2) Dominic
First Appearance "Relentless N00bs"
Dom is the epitome of Spikehood. A seasoned tournament veteran, Dom has won countless events at his local cardshop, where noobs whisper in fear of the one known as "the Dominator". Outside his area, however, Dom is nothing special. His best showing outside of his hometown was 10th place at a Regionals tournament.
Despite his competitive mindset, Dom doesn't play well domestically. Although he'd never admit it, his Tier 1 & 2 decks lose quite frequently to Tyler's crazy combo decks.
In terms of personality, Dom is erratic and outgoing. Dom does what he wants, when he wants. He is prone to impulse and often makes rash decisions without thinking first. If it wasn't for Tyler's level head, Dom would probably have killed himself in some spectacular accident long ago.
Outside of Magic, Dom doesn't do much. He enjoys frightening children, pwning n00bs, and developing tragically wonderous schemes, often without considering any moral or even logical implications.
3) Erin
First Appearance: "Awkward Silence"
Erin is one of a rare breed- she plays Magic, and she is female. It is a difficult concept for most people to grasp.
Shortly after meeting Ty (and going on a date), an opportunity arose for Erin to travel to Japan to study with the Masters. She has only recently returned from the trip, and has immediately picked up where she left off with Ty.
Being a female played in Magic has left Erin with much to prove in terms of her skill. Consequently, she has developed a very strong tendency towards Spike's competitive nature, while remaining a Johnny at heart.
4) Maro
First Appearance: "Barbed Wire Hurts"
Despite being extremely busy as Director of R&D at Wizards of the Coast, Maro somehow manages to find time to hang around Ty and Dom and soak up their abuse.
Astute readers will notice that the Maro portrayed in UGM has tiny, impish wings and flies around. This is a 100% true protrayal- he really does all that stuff.
When he's not being yelled at by Ty and Dom or cutting deals with Satan, Maro relapses into the withering void of his insanity, where he holds enlightening conversations with a variety of chartacters, including a hairy red ball named Thomas and a parade of volitant consumer products.
5) Thomas
First Appearance: "THOMAS NEED SHAVE!"
Thomas is a floating red ball of hair that exists only in the keening realms behind Maro's consciousness. He is an excellent counsel, one whom Maro trusts almost unwaveringly.
No one is sure what happens to Thomas or his home in the times between Maro's insanity, but it has been theorized that he just hangs out and plays Monopoly. Thomas is also plagued by a trio of post-mortem samurais.
6) Fanboy
First Appearance: "Neese is the Plural of Noose"
No one's really sure where Fanboy came from. He kinda just showed up one day in Dom and Ty's apartment. They let him stick around, but only for entertainment value.
Fanboy is the epitome of geek. He's a rumorholic, a doomsayer, a paranoid, and frequently overreacts. Despite all of this, doctors have found absolutely nothing wrong with his brain. He's perfectly healthy- he's just a freak.
7) Steve
First Appearance: "With a Steak Knife"
Steve is another Magic player who lives in Dom and Ty's apartment building. Steve is basically the aggregate of every single annoying person you've ever known. He's clingy, creepy, has tendencies towards stalkerism, talks too much, thinks he knows more than you, and will absolutely never ever shut up.
Ty is able to put up with Steve a bit better than Dom, but it's mostly a matter of patience. If a single good thing can be said about Steve, it is that he is far too intent on becoming your friend to ever get angry with you. You can even smash his car with a hatchet- it's cool.
8) Permission Sam
First Appearance: "Enter Permission Sam"
Clocking in at an impressive 5'1", Permission Sam is an annoying little snot. He's also Dom's archnemesis.
Permission Sam, as his name suggests, plays almost exclusively blue permission decks. He occasionally branches out into Lockdown or Stasis decks, but for the most part he sticks with his namesake. As you might imagine, this makes him a hated (and feared) entity among the local Magic community. This feeds Sam's ego and arrogance- luckily, Dom is always around to deflate Sam's ego with a clever quip or a smashing defeat.
9) Keeper of the Tech
First Appearance: "Lands = Tech"
The Keeper of the Tech is an ancient being of supreme power. He takes corporeal form as a giant stone head, but seeks solitude deep in caves and high atop remote mountains. Despite all of this, Dom and Ty manage to find him quite frequently. The Keeper holds the ultimate tech for any and every Magic deck, past present and future, although he is generally reluctant to dispense any truly useful information.
10) Kamahl, Fist of Krosa
First Appearance: "Fist of Krosa, Indeed"
Kamahl's connection with Dom is dubious at best, but they seem to know each other from long ago. Kamahl showed up at Dom's door one day needing a place to hide, so now he lives in the apartment. This would usually be a nuisance, but Kamahl is hardly ever at home.
In his free time, Kamahl enjoys maiming, killing, and destroying anything he can get his hands on.
